Another warm welcome to all….

The week that we have been building up to has finally arrived….the magazine is out…..and there is to be a helluva party season about to begin…with the birthday bash on Thursday….gala dinner on Friday…..final football league match on Saturday….rugby hosting their 10’s festival….and pre-season cricket friendly between the Titans over 50 team and our very own Legends team….

So a quick recap…and then a preview of forthcoming events….

As mentioned, the Golden Jubilee magazine is out and on sale from any of the bars at the Club….the cost is R100 for this magnificent showpiece….edited by Logan Green, who has completed the Herculean task of pulling 50 years of history into a marvellous record that does justice to the Northerns brand that we are so proud of!! Thank you to Logan and to Ted who added many anecdotes and reports….and to all the other contributors of articles, pictures, photos and memories…it is a spectacular edition to be proud of!! Thursday is our actual birthday and to celebrate we are having a mini “Friday” with a band and the Joker draw….there will also be wonderful specials available on the night…..did someone mention a “Happy Hour”? join us in the fun of celebrating our 50th birthday celebrations in style…. Joker draw tickets will be on sale as normal with the draw taking place at 19h30….

Friday will be a gala dinner and our Sports Person of the year will also be announced at this glittering event…after the break for COVID it is wonderful that all our Members are able to vie for this prestigious title again…. during the dark days of COVID it did not seem that we would ever reach some credence of normality….but here we are… please take note, that in honour of the night, the Club will be officially be closed…. Normal operations will resume on Saturday morning….

The end of the football season is on us….and the dream of winning the league was shattered with a 3-3 result with Impala Plats ending our possible chance of taking the league title….but that said….our boys have done us proud and we still sit in the top three of the log….with our last game of the against the league leaders, means that we can inch up and still end as runners up….we had a magnificent unbeaten run (which we are still in) that moved us up from the middle regions of the table to being right on top after some games….and this week will be the showpiece of our season…hopefully we will take the league winners on and teach them a thing or two!! Good luck guys….

The rugby boys decided after the success of their Junior tournament, that they would venture into another festival and are hosting Rugby 10’s on Saturday at the rugby fields….the action starts off early and there will be a beer tent and food stall available…..

Our Legends cricket side have also arranged a game against the Titans over 50’s side which should be a great test of character and skill…. action will be on the ‘C’ field on Saturday…

The Club has been very busy over the last little while….a massive thank you to all our loyal Members who have supported us in all our endeavours to bring fun, enjoyment and sport to the North….

Next Saturday there is a Music festival at the Club, when we host the “Glimlag Fees” on the 1st of October. Tickets are being offered at a 67% discount to our Members for the event…. all you need to do is show your Membership card to qualify… more detail in next week’s newsletter….
