The Scimitar 14 Jan 2022
A special greeting from the management and staff at the North to all our readers…..
Best wishes for 2022 to you all, may this year be most prosperous and your best ever….
Finally, with the government’s scrapping of the curfew, we can move around more freely and this peace of mind I hope is able to promote a more positive vibe and a bit of normality returning to our country….
I watched this week all the joy of kids at school… some returning to a higher grade, some entering junior school for the first time, some taking the major leap into high school… other young adults started their final year of school… all of these encompass exciting prospects for them, new challenges and adjusted goals….all with the hope of being a better and smarter individual by the end of the year….judging from the number of parents and loved ones at the first day of school, each one will experience major success…. I sincerely hope that every single one use these kids example and treat this year as a new challenge, setting new goals with the object of being a better person by the end of this year….It feels like the last two years have been spent “running in the spot” and we need to move forwards…I sincerely hope we are able to do this.
With the start of the new year, it is wonderful to see the hive of activity at the North…staff working with a passion at the tasks allocated to them… our Members too are back, practicing to hone their skills in anticipation of the target that they have set themselves….

Cricket
Cricket have also resumed…practices started this week and matches will already be played this weekend… join us to hear the click of leather on willow…hopefully the weather plays the game and all games are not disrupted….
Our grounds are looking superb, after all the rain in December we have experienced some rapid growth, but thanks to Brian and Lungi, our main fields are in immaculate condition… the council also returned to work this week and are trying frantically to get all the fields across the road back into tip top condition too…
Joker Draw
This week sees the resumption of the Joker draw on Friday…just to remind everyone the Jackpot has climbed to R17004 and we are 12 weeks down the road on this draw…. We also see the resumption in music this week and I am pleased to announce that the 5 piece favourite, Omega will be lighting up our lives with their version of some really great hits from the past….
