MESSAGE TO ALL OUR MEMBERS
Following some recent regrettable incidents at the Club, Benoni Northern Sports Club Executive Committee wishes to reassure it’s members:
- Benoni Northern Sports Club has a zero tolerance attitude to disruptive or abusive behaviour at the Club
- Where appropriate the necessary disciplinary, and or legal processes, are already underway
- We are proud of the way many of our Members handled themselves and came to the assistance of those who needed it.
- We aim to be a Club that provides a safe and friendly atmosphere for our Members, their Families and Guests. We call on all our Members to continue to assist us in this aim.

Good morning to everyone…
I cannot believe how quickly this year has disappeared for me…Christmas always appears like a distant goal…and here I am…busy with my last message of the year to you. I suppose the weather has not assisted me in thinking that summer has as yet not arrived….but I know of a few people that are quite happy that the heat of the summer has not gained its full force yet…I do love this time of the year (as I think I have mentioned before) as everyone is excited and filled with joy..
- Children…at the possibility of new surprises and being on holidays that seem to last forever
- Parents..at being able to get away from the hum-drum of life for a while to recharge the batteries
- Families..at the prospect of seeing loved ones that are far, far away again
- Grandparents/parents….at the opportunity to spend time with their beloved off spring…
- Individuals…at being able to fulfil life-long dreams on their “bucket list”…..
The list could continue, but I am sure that each and every one of you have a prospect of some or other circumstance that excites you or gets the adrenalin and juices flowing…may this festive season satisfy all those dreams and wishes.
At the North, we still have one event left in the year for everyone to enjoy….the last festive Friday of the year….a night market filled with different and interesting stalls and culinary delights…a great duo of entertainers to sing the night and any blues that you may have away….a movie in the Park (showing “Home Alone” as we missed it last month)…lots of bars with friendly staff and Members to serve us…and a Joker draw that has hit an annual high of R300 190!!! At the North we have had an incredible run with the success of the Joker Jackpot…and this, the fifth draw in the series, has continued in the vein of our draw numbers two and three….edging ever closer to the elusive elite of having one card left and that will be the Joker!!…. The draw will take place at 19h30 on this Friday…please note that the North and the staff will have a break from the Joker draw (whether it is won or not!!) for four weeks and all draws will only continue on January 12th….please put that in your diaries….but let us see if we can give someone a fantastic Christmas present this week, the last time it was won was exactly year ago on December 15th, 2017…so join us in the quest to search for the Joker… our Members draw is also still available at R6200…pop in early…firstly to get some parking spot..As these are at a premium lately…and be here for the Night market…the Members draw..The Joker draw…the Movie in the Park and of course the Wilsons who will be providing us with our entertainment….sounds like an evening of fun!! Come to the North and have a blast!!
We are on a break from all sports at the moment…with the summer holidays being the catalyst behind this…. with hordes of people heading off on their annual vacation…our summer sports take a well earned rest and then come back storming in the new year…all vibrant and full of life…ready to take on the second half of the season…
Over this period there will still be some of us working…the fields still need to be maintained, cut and trimmed…and there will be one bar operating at the North over this period…the Scimitar and Beer Garden will be open for your convenience from the 16th…..please look for the opening and closing times and the days of service contained elsewhere in this newsletter…
Today it really is a short and sweet word from me….there is very little sport to report on and with the wind down into the festive period, all that is left for me to do…is to wish each and every one of my fellow Members and friends of the North….may you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year….I trust all your dreams be fulfilled over this period…and that you spend quality time with your loved ones…if you are travelling…please take it easy…there are a lot of horribly incompetent drivers on the roads at this time of the year… look after yourselves and join us back at your home away from home in the new year….please remember those who are not as fortunate as ourselves…and never forget those beloved pets at home, they miss you too…..
I give my thanks to the Main Club Committee and each and every person who have supported and assisted me in my task as manager over the last year…..you have made my time and place here a most satisfying and gratifying experience…to Glenda, Shepherd and my staff…what would I be without you…thank you for your commitment and loyalty, you are an extraordinary bunch of humans…you make the North a unique and fantastic experience for all…. and lastly my heartfelt gratitude to my wonderful wife and family…for your amazing love and encouragement in whatever crazy ideas I come up with and always believing in me…you are my rock and foundation…..
