As I sit here today contemplating my navel, having also done my male thing of making Elaine coffee this morning and served her in bed (women’s day), and also having walked the furry guy around the block, having also helped the old guy who lives opposite me with a battery charger for his geriatric car, I then contemplate what was happening to me last night.

I have probably had better nights than last night!

There was this small problem of playing the wrong hands against Heather and Karin, then Bram and I started making the hands while there was still another round to play. Thank goodness we weren’t that quick, because we had only done three when someone observant questioned us and we woke up to the fact!

Bill, this is for you! I promise to never tease you again about a Wilkie moment, because there’s now a Hayward moment or two!

OK, that’s now off my chest and the hands we were supposed to play against Heather and Karin have been adjudged as average plus to them and average minus to us. Oh what a night…..! There’s a song there somewhere, maybe I should try to write some lyrics.

And now finally to the results. A really good win, with a magnificent 71,4% to Bill and Jan, with Di and Barbara second.

On to Thursday. We will be playing at the tennis club again, because there’s a massive hockey tournament taking place and we weren’t able to play in either the hall or the ladies bar.
I have arranged to have a car attendant in place to ensure our members will have parking in front of the tennis club hall, and I will be asking you to give a small donation to the attendant.
