Good morning all of you good people. I tried to send the results out last night, but the ether wasn’t kind. I couldn’t get enough signal strength from Vodacom to even open Gmail, let alone for it to last long enough for one of my long emails to you!

I’m happy to be back home after our seaside jaunt, and even Troy is showing some residual effects after having to breathe such highly saturated oxygen down there. But that’s over now and we’re back in business, bridge-wise.

When I walked into the hall yesterday afternoon, it really felt good to see all your young and not so young faces after 10 days and may I just say it was good to see you all and feel the atmosphere of my second home, Benoni Northerns Bridge Club. I think of you when I’m away and wonder who’s doing what, whether there is improvement, whether you’ve adopted a new convention in your partnership, and so on and so on.

With the above in mind, I cannot help noticing a few interesting results from yesterday. In particular, my normal congratulations go to the deserving winners, Paul and Bridie, but a huge well done goes to Geoff and Pauline for second place and to the winners of the handicap, Charles and Len, who, co-incidentally, came in 12th overall, with nearly 50%. I’m thrilled to see such improvement and urge you guys to keep it up.
