The ghost of Tuesday night must have got lost somewhere in the ether, because everything went swimmingly this afternoon. Apart from two tables that played their hands the wrong way around, nothing untoward took place, there were no rattling chains or low murmurs, except for the usual stage whispered discussions from the usual suspects.

So, on to the day’s proceedings.

The somewhat age-challenged Precision pair of Ian and his partner came out on top, with Jill and Vanessa second and Helen and Barbara third. (Can I say well done all?)
To be serious for a moment, what was interesting was the fact that we didn’t do anything amazing today, but just kept it steady and defended well, for the most part.

This game makes great demands of us, but it rewards patience and steadiness and punishes wayward bids and bad play.

Enough, enough!

The club will be closing down for Christmas on the 15th and reopening on the 8th January, so our end of the year function/session will take place on Thursday 14th December. As usual, we are asking you to please bring a small plate of, preferably savouries, per pair. Our prizegiving will also take place on the 15th. Tuesday the 12th will be the last event as well for 2017 and we ask you to also bring a small plate of something for us to munch on.

Please take notice that the 2018 AGM will take place on the 24th January, starting at 1200. We will issue a formal agenda the first week in January but would, in the meantime, welcome any items for discussion.
