Bridge Results 3 July 2018
Ok, it’s a little cool this morning, what was it, 2 degrees? But, imagine for a moment you are living in the city of Yakutsk, in Russia. It is one of the coldest inhabited cities in the world, with winter temperatures averaging minus 30 to minus 40 degrees! There are actually 282000 people who live there! And then the coldest inhabited place of all, a little town called Oymyakon, which is a two day scenic drive from Yakutsk, where they have an average winter temperature of minus 50 degrees. The schoolchildren don’t have to attend school if it’s lower than minus 40 degrees! I am reliably informed that there’s not much of a market for refrigerators in Oymyakon! You just dig a hole in the ground, which is permafrost all year round!
So, we have now established from all that useless information above, that those of you who didn’t pitch up for bridge last night were just a bunch of sissies, while those hardy souls who were there enjoyed the ambience of the Ladies bar, complete with a roaring fire, great camaraderie and great bridge.
The results!
Ann and Diana won by a very short nose (one point) from Helen and Deirdre, followed by Tor and Cathy in third. Then came the pack, The Pelaton, in Cyclespeak.
My usual thanks go to Bernie for a good evening of bridge and just to everyone who plays this wonderful game.
The world is made up of people who play bridge and those who haven’t learned how to play yet!
Good day to you all, see you tomorrow.
The sage,
Too much?
