Bridge Results 28 Sep 2017
Nine tables today.
We had a visit from Robert Stevens, which was really nice. He played with Cathy and says he’ll probably play next week as well. We asked him about what happened at the Bermuda Bowl and he said ” Don’t ask!” It’s really tough at the top, where no prisoners are taken. But nonetheless, we’re very proud of what you’ve achieved, Robert, and with many good years of bridge ahead of you, anything is possible.
And now to today’s bridge, where, surprise surprise, guess which pair came out top. That’s right, Bridie and Paul. Or is it Paul and Bridie? Whatever!
What’s wrong with the rest of us folks? Where are the other players who can also rise to the surface from time to time? Let’s show them they’re not unbeatable.
Apologies Bridie and Paul, you know where this is coming from.I want to improve the quality of bridge being played at our club, so I will not stop urging members to improve their knowledge and compete, compete, compete…….!
Who came second! Oh, it was Helen and Barbara, followed by Lisa and Mary in third. And, I would like to make special mention of one pair, Jerome and Priscilla, who lead at tea time and finished a very creditable joint fifth with Hans and Albert. Well done Jerome and Priscilla!
Apologies for the above rant from yours truly, but I would like to one day hear ” Benoni Northerns is where some really serious bridge is being played. It’s the place to play if you want to improve your game, it’s cooking there!”
Oh, by the way, the club championship entries are closing next Thursday, so get in touch with Di. Don’t delay.
