I hope you all enjoyed the ambience of the tennis club this afternoon. It was cosy, wasn’t it?
The toilets needed a little work and there was only one working electrical plug, but nevertheless, a real vote of thanks to the management of our club for assisting with the tables, chairs and the tea urn and cups and mugs etc, etc. We just don’t realise how much they do for us every week, and it takes something like this for us to know it. Thanks to them.
The hall will be finished by next Thursday, complete with beautiful stacked doors, just like the ladies bar. The Tuesday night session will still take place in the ladies bar, but we’ll be in the main hall on Thursday.
Well played, Helen and Barbara. They just continue to perform well, week after week, don’t they. And a very close second, by one tiny little point, to Mary and Vanessa.
On a slightly more serious note, I had to penalise pairs 7 and 11 for completely misboarding board 13, with all four hands being placed in the wrong pockets. Both pairs were given average minus scores, and the next pairs who played the board had to be given averages. Please, please, be more careful about this. It just serves to mess everything up for the rest of the pairs who have to play the hand after you.
Finally, thank you to Ursel for a nice, friendly partnership today. It was a pleasure.
I just love this one!
” I’d like a review of the bidding, with all the original inflections and body language”
Does it remind you of anybody? Nobody? Really? Have you never asked anyone if the way the bidding cards are thrown down has any special meaning?
We don’t realise how much we convey with our body language and pauses, mostly innocent, but then again…
Have a really good weekend
Roy.
(Troy’s sleeping again)
