There was thunder and lightning outside, the clouds were dark and threatening, but the hands being played were even more dramatic than the weather. As I didn’t have a partner (he’s partying in some game lodge, somewhere!) I was able to wander around a bit. Hands 7 and 8 were particularly fascinating, so I observed what you were all bidding. Imagine, you pick up a hand with 10 Diamonds, and the A of Spades. What do you bid, as dealer? Well, there were six pairs playing the hand, with several different opening bids. And, there was the great conundrum of what to do, if you’re in 7NT and you get a spade lead, never mind a KS lead!

Great play from Helen and Barbara, with Yvonne and Claire making a great comeback in the second half to finish second.
