As I write to you from Rynfield Close, I see there are two bars showing on the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) at the bottom of the laptop, in this case for Vodacom. I often have to wait until the next morning before I am able to send the results, because the signal is so weak. In fact, this morning a funny thing happened when I received an SMS from Vodacom, one of those irritating marketing questionnaires that asks you to rate their service and quality of signals, etc, which must have slipped through the ether by accident. I was brutally honest and rated them 1 out of 5 on each of three questions. The only problem with that was the fact that the message couldn’t get through, so they’ll never know! Oh boy!
I think I’ll organise someone to deliver it in a cleft stick.
Enough Hayward, enough. It is what it is, so just go to the results.
There were 11 full tables today, a complete about turn from Tuesday night’s two and a half! Sid and Ros won with 67.9%, followed by Jill and Vanessa in second and those two perennial achievers Helen and Barbara third.
Remember to enter for the Club Pairs Championship! We had a number of entries today, but we are aiming for 12 tables, so keep the entries coming in. The entry list will be displayed at every session, with the closing date quite a few weeks away.We are also going to firm up the menu with the caterers in the next few weeks and have had an indication of two persons asking for a vegetarian lunch, which we will be able to provide. I will organise for an alternative form to be printed, which will contain space for such requests, so no problem.
With reference to previous mails when I wrote about long hesitations when bidding the following comment was recorded during a recent game:
When asked to acknowledge that his partner had broken tempo to have a long think before taking action he said ” There was a hesitation, but I’m not sure there was any thinking involved”
Yes, well, say so more.
Goodnight all, see you next week.
Roy and an ever sleeping Troy
