Nine and a half tables, the usual thoughtful faces. Busy, busy, think, concentrate!

It was Gloria’s birthday today, which, I suppose, makes it an important day in it’s own right. Well done Gloria, was it really only 61? Say no more, Hayward, you could get into trouble, I mean she could even be younger than that. But thanks to you Gloria for the very pleasant cake and other eats and don’t mind me, I’m just kidding.

Myself and my campanologist partner didn’t cover ourselves with glory today, finishing in the middle somewhere, but you don’t really want to hear about us, do you. The honours went to the first-time pairing of Helen and Caroline, with a percentage of 64.77, followed by Deirdre and Pat, with 63.03. Great going, Helen and Caroline, maybe we’ll have you playing together again sometime.

Amid the serious stuff, there was time for mirth, when Gloria opened 1 Spade, followed by a bid of 4 Spades from Ian(The campanologist mentioned earlier). When she asked me about the meaning of 4 Spades, I leaned over the table and indicated the difference between clubs and spades…..You had to be there…..Don’t worry…… Damn, this attempt at a joke fell a little flat, didn’t it? I said you had to be there, it was hilarious!

Enough, enough, it’s almost weekend, but then again, every day nowadays seems like a weekend, they just seem to roll on by, never ending, just periods of time between games of bridge.

Before I become maudlin, let’s just say that I really enjoy spending time with you lot and maybe it’s too long between Tuesday and Thursday and next Tuesday etc,etc.
