What a day for bridge! Spring was all around us, Summer had also arrived, the hall was full of bridge aficionados, the doors to the patio were open and a gentle breeze wafted through the room. And all of us were privileged to be able to sit there and enjoy the ambience.

What about the bridge, Roy?

I’ll get to that in a minute or two. First, let’s get an update on the club championship, being played on the 14th October, as if you didn’t know! Latest news is that we have 8 tables thus far, so we need another eight pairs to enter. Let’s get it on people, let’s have the tournament of the year and crown the champions in style.

What? Oh yes, today’s bridge. Before I get to that, welcome back Ian, the visitor from the South Coast, the whale watcher of note and partner of yours truly.

Well done Paul and Bridie, for the umpteenth time this year, for a very good win with 65%, followed by Neels and Peter in second place.

Looking around the room this afternoon, I was struck by the number of new members and visitors playing regularly and was it was gratifying to know that we are growing as a club. Ros even had a potential member hanging around, quart of beer in hand, offering advice from the kibitzer’s corner, Such is fame!
