The night is cold outside, it’s going to be 5 degrees in the morning and here sits your late night owl of a chairman, slaving away at the witching hour to bring you the results hot from the press.

First let me say that I’m really looking forward to Saturday, to our premier event of the year, when we crown our champion pair.

We have 10 full tables, which we’re happy with. As it’s our major event, we will be closing off the entries at this number so that we can do some planning for the table seating and movements for morning and afternoon. Those of us who are playing are kindly requested to bring one plate of eats per pair for morning and afternoon tea and coffee, but remember we’ll be supplying lunch for everyone as well.

Now, on to this evening, which was characterised by some challenging hands. The victors for tonight were that pair of old guys, Ian and Roy, with Paul and Bridie in second and Bill and Jan third. Nicely done to all and we’ll see most of you on Thursday and, of course, Saturday.

What a week it’s going to be.

Just a random thought. There are one or two members who would be able to stand in for someone who might not be able to play on Saturday, especially if it’s a last moment problem. We sincerely hope this doesn’t happen, but if it should, please get in touch with me immediately at 0607529298.
