Bridge Results 1 Nov 2018
It’s a little cold now, 2145 on a Thursday evening, supper is almost forgotten, the news on TV is much the same as this morning, no different really from yesterday, The crooks are still doing what they do, only the amounts change from time to time, with a zero either added on or subtracted, but who’s counting. Their lips are moving, so they’re lying. The rain was very welcome this afternoon, there was excitement down at the Sandpan, the Seagulls were squawking away, the Geese were honking, Troy was hiding away from the thunder and we were playing bridge.
And what a beautiful afternoon for bridge that it was. Eight full tables, the usual suspects were there, ensconced in some of their favourite seats, waiting for the start like Romans at the Coliseum, eager for the feel of the cards in their hands, the thrill of picking up a hand in a million, or not, as it often is. Ah, the excitement of it! There’s nothing else like it.
Pat and Deirdre did it, with Jill and Peter second and Hans an Albert in third. Well done all of you.
News from Durban is that we were lying 6th out of 16 teams after today’s opening sessions. I’ll keep you up to date with how we do as the daily results come through. Thus far, we have 19 pairs registered for our Pairs Championship and we’re trying for 12 tables, therefore another 5 pairs are needed. It’s going to be a wonderful day of bridge, so those of you who haven’t registered yet, please get your entries in.
I’m going to bed now, to sleep the sleep of the innocent, which I am, so there it is!
Goodnight from Country View,
Roy
