Bridge Results 21 Jun 2018
Ten and a half tables! We waited until almost half past one in hope of one pair of late stragglers, but that was it. OK, no problem, we played, there was one sit out, the hands were very challenging, the opposition was the opposition, the afternoon was great for bridge, all was well at Benoni Northerns.
Before we go to today’s results, our thoughts are with Ian today, and we trust that he will come through this medical challenge that has arisen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and, on a personal level, I look forward to playing many more hands with you, old guy. We’re all in your corner right now.
The winners today were that very competitive pair of Paul and Bridie, followed by Margaret and Anne, then Helen and Barbara.
It was very pleasing today to observe the arrival of another newcomer in the person of Vernon Carr and the visible excitement on the faces of some other relative newcomers.
This is an exciting game, isn’t it, all you ‘newies’ ? Wait, you’ll still see! It’s the greatest fun you can possibly have indoors. ( I don’t suppose I should add “with your clothes on”, should I?)
No, Hayward, don’t go there, there are some innocent people who’ll be reading this, so chill! I mean, some of them are still working! Young, still innocent!
Enough, enough, that’s all folks, goodnight, see you next week, remember Tuesday night is only for teams, have I missed anything?
Just one other item, that of the attachment to Tuesday’s email. I’m advised that some of you couldn’t open the one referring to Deirdre’s marathon swim in aid of CANSA, in remembrance of Alan.I don’t know what else I can do to make it possible to open, but here it is again, as a Word document. The bottom line is that any small donation of yours will go towards this very deserving charity. Just get in touch with Deirdre if it’s still acting up.
